Loy (2020)

International project at Keio University, Tokyo Japan

Loy is a redefinition of culture and exploration of a new way to celebrate Thai festivals for a better cohabitant between human and nature.

Loy Krathong is a festival in Thailand celebrated annually in November. Loy means to float, Krathong is a vessel made of banana leaves and flowers. Thai people float Krathong into the river to pay respect to the God of the river.

After only one night, the Krathongs turn into more than 100 tons of rubbish that harm marine lives and are difficult for water and waste management.

LOY short film — showing the interaction and experience of Loy would look like. This was made during lockdown so, I used a baby bathtub instead of filming near the river but it was so much fun tho!
